I was able to record another brief transmission, also from Roi Namur island (see last post). It was also late afternoon Sep. 1st, 17:55 local Hawai'i time, on 28.010 MHz. It faded in and out and then briefly came in loud and clear before disappearing again. I transcribed it as:
CQ CQ CQ CQ CQ CQ DE V73NS V73NS K
That is "calling anyone" several times, "I am" and then the callsign V73NS twice and then the K at the end signifies end transmission and inviting anyone to call back. I used the call sign to look up the location.
Here is the recorded signal at the point of best reception.
