Happy Fourth

A year ago today, we had just arrived back in the US and drove to my parents house to spend a week beginning on the fourth.  I put two window clip-on flags on the car to drive the last few miles to their house. Only it was the German flag instead of the US flag, despite being the US's national day (as a joke because we just came back from Germany).  I bought the flags at a super-market in Bad Malente just before we left.  It was the first time I had been back at my parents house, where I grew up, or to my in-laws house in 3 1/2 years since I first left to Germany.  Now it is our first 4th of July in Hawai'i.
