And below is one going up a wall. One of the tendrils has fastened to a screw sticking out from the inside. The ivy gourd is a bad vine to have around, but I have always liked how cucurbit tendrils grab hold of anything available and coil to draw it tight.

More scarlet gourds
Our landlord cut down a tree that was between our house and the carport. It put out a lot of shade and now with it gone all sorts of plants have sprouted up out of the ground below it. One of these are lots of scarlet ivy gourd vines. They grow very fast and soon were pouring over the wall into the carport. However powdery mildew is quick on its heel causing the leaves to wilt.
And below is one going up a wall. One of the tendrils has fastened to a screw sticking out from the inside. The ivy gourd is a bad vine to have around, but I have always liked how cucurbit tendrils grab hold of anything available and coil to draw it tight.
